Electric hoists must be overloaded when used at full load

Source:China Kaitaer Official Website    Release date:2024-11-30

If electric hoists are overloaded for a long time, their wear and tear rate will increase significantly, and even serious failures may occur in a short period of time. Therefore, electric hoists have always been strictly prohibited from overloading. In addition to overloading, it is not recommended to frequently use electric hoists at full load. Why is this?

Electric hoist

The so-called full load use means that the load capacity of the electric hoist has just reached its rated load value. If the rated load of the electric hoist is 5 tons and the weight of the lifting target is also 5 tons, then this is full load lifting. In fact, many times when an electric hoist is used at full load, it means it is overloaded. Many people may not understand why this is the case, but the truth is simple. This mainly involves the problem of instantaneous overload.

When an electric hoist is used for lifting and hoisting, there is an upward acceleration process, which is an instantaneous overweight process. From a stationary position to a downward position, there is an instantaneous weight loss process. If it remains stationary, it will always be in a fully loaded state. The essential lifting process for an electric hoist is from bottom to top, and at this moment, the overload we mentioned earlier occurs.

So, it is advisable to avoid frequent full load lifting of electric hoists and leave sufficient margin for them to ensure the safety of lifting operations and the service life of electric hoists.
